Expired: Getting an Inspection Should Not Be This Difficult

My VA State Inspection expired at the end of July and not wanting to push my luck any further, I set out this afternoon to rectify the situation. It should have taken like 15 minutes… It did not…
Pulled into the first place (a gas station down the street that passed me last time) only to discover their guy was out until Monday. At the
second place (a Merchant’s Tire) I learned they didn’t do inspections, but he suggested the Midas next door.
Next door at the Midas the wait was an hour. I couldn’t wait an hour so I maneuvered through the Manassas traffic and headed back north, eyes peeled, searching for the Sign: State Inspections Here.
I saw the sign and slowly pulled up to the line. Parked in the next bay was a shiny Camaro and standing out front in his crisp uniform was a Virginia State Trooper. With both the inspection AND registration expired I didn’t wanting to tempt fate slyly pulled out of line and exited the service station.
The fifth time was the charm. I found a place, the wait was longer than I hoped for, but I passed and really that’s all that matters!
